(happy october)
Paul and Maggie were fairly shaking with excitement this morning. It is, after all, the start of the very best part of the year: the October-January corridor (aka -- in our house -- as "everyone-has-a-birthday-so-empty-those-wallets time"). Paul is preoccupied with planning his zombie costume for the world-record breaking attempt for the "Thriller" dance at the end of the month and the KISS concert in a few days. Maggie is honing her musical tastes (The Jam, David Bowie...) It's my favorite time of year, too!

Of course, they may also have been shivering because it was 63 degrees in the house this morning...

Sometimes my laziness is for the best.
You know, there's a lot to be said for being such a lame mom that you totally forget to buy bread and then you have to make bread because it's the only immediate option...

Thank goodness we remembered to buy liquor. Just kidding. Really. (Not really.)
As most people who read this (probably) already know, we've had a very long, trying week. I'll fill in the details later. After everyone is back in their right place (e.g., at school).

Here's what I want to say to each of you as we start a new week...
Also, a dear friend is going to have surgery tomorrow morning -- please keep this person in your thoughts. You don't even need to know who it is to send good energy out. That's the wonderful thing about postive thinking -- it flows through all of us.God. I sound like such a hippie. Right. I'm off to listen to the only band that ever mattered at loud volumes.
