FotoBazaar opens Friday, October 4

I'm one of about 200 photographers showing in FotoWeekDC's FotoBazaar (a companion to the (e)merge Art Show) this weekend. It's in the Washington Post's Going Out Guide and the Washingtonian, so it must be real!

The opening party is tonight, 6:30-9:30, at 51 N Street, NE, DC -- DJ Flux, drinks, food, and loads of great photographers. Tickets are available here. The show is open 10am-6pm Saturday and Sunday -- I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone's work. By the way...that shot above came from the FotoBazaar team -- recognize anyone's work?

Summer is half over. What happened?

This morning, I opened the front door to let our cat out and it was chilly! Made me think of mornings in San Francisco and of fall just around the corner. And then I realized that I haven't posted her in a long while. Honestly, I've been busy with the market and assorted other fun stuff...and not-so-fun stuff. The kids have been busy this summer, too. Usually we do very unstructured summers, but both clamored for camps this year, so we gave in. It's been great, and a wonderful distraction, even if they're both tired all the time. Last week, P&M did Apple Camp -- they made movies using iMovie. Here are their projects:

Maggie took her story from the story journal she kept during  the school year...
Paul goes a little darker...more auteur-esque...

I'm on FoundFolios.

I've decided to try FoundFolios on AgencyAccess -- trying to figure out new venues. Here's a link to my first portfolio there... Anyone have experience with this or other online photo agencies? I feel like I'm paddling a boat without oars and could really use some input.

Makin' a book...

So when I got my beautiful new Canon 60D, I got an extra treat: an offer to create a book on Shutterfly. Of course, I promptly forgot about it. Thankfully, Shutterfly was on the ball and sent a reminder that my time was running out. Thank you, Shutterfly. Thank you for poking me into action.

I made a 20-page book -- food photography -- including images taken on both Canons and from Instagram (there's a handy-dandy link right on the Shutterfly page -- thanks again, Shutterfly!) Can't wait to have the book in my hands. Take a look at what went in...you can always come over for tea or espresso when the real thing arrives and we can peruse it together :)

Sadly, I cannot figure out the embedded thing, so here's a screen shot.
