Baby hats and other knitting news...

Made a bunch of chunky baby hats -- the hats definitely, maybe the babies too -- for my friend Stella's shop, Mala Galleria, in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. If you're up that way, you should visit. Next up: adult size bat hats!

We are in the final, crazy hours of preparation for the biggest Thanksgiving Market we've ever held! 

Definitely a labor of love. I'm looking forward to fresh oysters, champagne, and sitting around the fire this Saturday night. And knitting next week. And maybe some William Powell movies, though there's  pre-Thanksgiving baking to do, and home improvements to make and Holiday Market to prepare...

Exciting weekend ahead...

It's nice when Charles and I both have exciting things happening in one weekend. Also, rare. I'd like to make it less rare :)

My dear friend, Stella Scott, has opened a lovely little gallery in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, called Mala Galleria (mala means tiny in Serbian). I've been so happy to design her website, and tonight she celebrates the official grand opening with three artists...including me! I'm showing photographs and the other two artists, Frank DePietro and Elena Gold, are showing their lovely paintings. My first gallery showing and I'm nervous and excited (emphasis on nervous). If you're in the area, I'd love to see you tonight!

The other exciting thing of the weekend is the TONE show at DC's Black Cat with Majeure and Maserati. Get tickets at ticketalternative. It's going to be loud. And great. I can't wait!

(And in case you were wondering, we weathered Hurricane Sandy well -- only minor leaks and one big tree down. Which is still sitting partially on our fence, partially in our neighbor's yard. )

Back from the Low Country

I have to admit, I've never been interested in the South. I was wrong. Amazingly, jaw-droppingly good food and things I can honestly say I've never experienced before this trip to South Carolina. We spent a day in Savannah, I spent most of a day on Hunting Island, and we spent most of our time lounging on Fripp Island. Photos on flickr...

More stuff up in my Etsy shop...

 

I've been dying to get back to doing some decoupage under glass work, but things have been too busy. Sadly, that means that my Etsy shop has been languishing -- until this morning, I only had seven pieces posted! Many of my favorites -- like the conjoined twin skeletons are gone, and while ideas spin in my head, there hasn't been enough time to execute them. I guess it's a good problem to have, but frustrating, too, since it feels like I've been letting my etsy space slowly die.

After a lot of thought, I've decided to add large-scale photography and reintroduce handknit baby hats. Think of it as widening the net. I'll also add smaller photographic prints, including some macros and small pieces from instagram and, eventually, some more decoupage under glass pieces.

I love 500px. There. I said it.

If you know me, you know I've long been a fan of flickr. Some might even say a heavy user. With nearly 17,250 photos, I'll cop to that one (and if you only knew how many I never posted...) Flickr is a great tool and serves its purpose well. I love making cards and books through linked apps and I've had many compliments on the quality of those pieces. But as someone who takes capturing images pretty seriously, I have to say, I LOVE 500px. The interface is gorgeous and clean, photos really look their best. Best of all, 500px allows users to sell their work and maintain beautiful portfolios online.
