Coming Soon to a Home Near Yours (if you live in Cheverly)

I'm starting a garden this year -- seed to plant -- old school. I have no real experience (purchased potted herbs on the front walk notwithstanding) so I'm going at this DIY-style... I don't know the rules. I probably don't like them. Hope you'll visit punkrockgardenclub frequently and keep up with this adventure...and maybe offer some advice, which I may or may not take.

Yaaay! What are you going to grow? The squirrels held many sumptuous feasts with our tomatoes last year...I might try the upside-down methodology this year. The zucchini-in-pots idea was also a failure, but the soil toxicity from the failed attempt to eradicate our bamboo is preventing me from doing a lot. I think I might try herbs and marigolds in a raised bed this year instead of pots. All this will be waiting until May when I finish my class though!

So far, loads of mesculin and lettuce, some corn, zuchinni, herbs, flowers, tomatoes... I wanna grow bamboo, which I think is what started all this in the first place.

I'm in--I know nussing, nussing at all, but am counting on the crap I tell my students--that writing (cross out and put "gardening" ) is not something you learn, but something you just go out and do.

DON'T GROW BAMBOO! You will regret it. Your nearest neighbors will regret it. We had it in our backyard on Capitol Hill and it was the biggest, most invasive mess ever. Once you start it, it's virtually impossible to stop.
